During the initial session, we meet with you over HIPAA compliant video session for 60 Minutes. We go over your reasons for seeking services, which we call (chief complaint), your history (medical, social, educational, professional), family history, any traumas you have experienced in detail, any past treatments, response to that, medications, substance abuse history, lifestyle, etc. The goal is to get to know you, by understanding your past history, present condition and what you plan for the future, so that we can work with you in setting goals and guide you in meeting these. With this information, we can work together to create an individualized treatment plan to address your needs.  When medications are indicated, we will notify you as well, and educate you on your options. When psychotherapy alone is indicated, we can provide this or refer you out to a therapist.  I want you to know that there are times when medications are not needed. Medications in some cases, depending on the severity of symptoms are the first line of treatment before psychotherapy can begin. There are times when simply making some lifestyle modifications in your daily routine in addition to psychotherapy can be enough. We take our prescribing authority seriously and always follow evidence as it applies to each individual patient as no two patients are the same. Plan to be in a quiet place without interruption to fully benefit from this session.

Follow Up Medication Management
Visits are 2 weeks after initial psychiatric evaluation if medications are initiated, then Monthly while we adjust medications until stable. Then at least every 1-2 months while on maintenance medications. We may order blood work or imaging which we also review with you during these visits

Why choose us

We live in a world where you can be surrounded by people, but still feel lonely, with nobody to turn to when things get rough.

But being heard is an important part of being human. Dr.Ngalame saw that there was great power in listening, but  knew not everyone had someone to talk to. She started to wonder. “How can I make being heard a reality for everyone?”

That's why Empower Psychiatry was born.

Empower Psychiatry is happy to say, “We’re here for you!”

No matter who you are or what you’re going through, this is a place where you’ll be heard and cared for. We might be strangers on the surface, but underneath we’re just the friends you haven’t met yet.
